Match the symptom to a check
| Symptom | Check first | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Display will not launch | Read the form error; check date, start and finish | Correct missing or equal times; confirm a next-day finish if intended |
| Time is wrong | Compare device time, timezone and exam date separately | Follow the accuracy checklist before changing settings |
| Full screen unavailable | Browser support and permission status | Try the control after clicking; otherwise maximise the window |
| Screen goes dark | Power connection, system sleep and wake-lock status | Review room equipment settings and request wake lock again if supported |
| Offline reload fails | Was this browser profile ready offline? | Reconnect before the exam, wait for readiness and test again |
| Update remains waiting | Other site tabs or installed windows are open | Close all old windows after the exams finish, then reopen online |
Separate schedule errors from clock errors
The current time comes from the device; start and finish come from the exam link. An old saved date is not fixed by changing the computer clock. Select Exit exam, check the restored date and compare every time with the timetable.
A finish earlier than the start requires confirmation that it belongs to the next day. Equal start and finish are invalid. Around daylight-saving changes, nonexistent or ambiguous local times are rejected rather than guessed. Choose an unambiguous schedule or ask the responsible staff to resolve it.
If full screen or wake lock fails
These features depend on the browser and operating system. Read the status next to the control. A denied permission does not invalidate the exam schedule. Use a maximised window if needed, connect power and check the projection from the seats. Wake lock can be released when a page is hidden; check it again after returning.
Offline files and waiting updates
Offline preparation is specific to a device and browser profile. Private browsing, storage restrictions, cleared data or browser eviction can remove files. Installation alone does not prove readiness. Follow the offline test on the actual equipment. Uncached guides need a connection even when the clock is ready offline.
A new Service Worker deliberately waits while old site windows remain open so it does not replace files during an examination. After all sessions finish, close both browser tabs and installed app windows, then reopen online. Do not clear storage to force an update during a live exam: it can remove saved settings and offline preparation.
If the problem remains
Use your agreed backup and report the device, browser, visible error and action that preceded it. Keep candidate details out of screenshots and shared links. The accuracy guide, projector guide and session handover checklist provide the next checks for specific problems.
