Standardise the checks, not just the appearance

A consistent screen layout is helpful, but a consistent verification process matters more. Decide who checks the device time, who confirms the session schedule and who verifies the display from candidate seating. Keep those checks separate from simply seeing that the page has loaded.

The configuration form puts date, start and finish together. Optional title and room fields help identify the session. Display options let you choose the time format and visible fields without navigating a dashboard.

A practical preparation sequence

1. Confirm the device’s date, time and timezone against your accepted reference.
2. Enter or restore the exam, then compare the date and schedule with the session instructions.
3. Check whether an overnight finish is intentional; never assume an earlier finish time is a typo or a next-day exam without checking.
4. Launch the display and inspect it from the furthest relevant seats.
5. Confirm power settings and test the prepared offline cache.
6. Hand over to the invigilator with the schedule visibly checked.

What recovery does and does not mean

If the browser pauses, the clock’s next repaint recalculates from the device time and fixed exam timestamps. It does not lose a second for every delayed update. Refreshing a generated display link also restores the same schedule.

That recovery does not independently validate the system clock, show a screen while the computer sleeps, or provide a record of interruptions. If the device time changes, check it and follow your examination procedure. The tool has no audit log in this version.

Avoid ambiguity in a shared room

A countdown is optional. If candidates have different finish times, consider whether a single remaining-time field would confuse them and follow the procedure for communicating each arrangement. The current-time field remains visible even when start, finish or remaining time is hidden.

Keep personal information out of titles and room labels. A generated URL contains the entered exam details and may be copied into browser history or messages.
