A clock with an optional countdown
The largest number is the current time. Start and finish times sit beneath it, with remaining time available as a separate field. This keeps the published schedule visible while letting you remove the countdown if it is not appropriate for your examination.
A personal study timer often starts a duration when someone presses a button. This exam clock instead uses a scheduled start and finish. Opening the display late does not restart the exam or give it a fresh full duration.
Before, during and after the exam
Before the scheduled start, the display says “Not started” and the remaining field shows the full exam duration. At the start, its status changes to “In progress”. At the finish, remaining time stops at zero and the display says “Exam finished”. The current-time clock continues running.
The display does not start or stop an examination on your behalf. It does not play an alarm, submit candidates’ work or replace an invigilator’s instructions.
Choose a format that suits the room
Select 24-hour time for a display such as 14:30, or 12-hour time for a display with am or pm. Seconds are optional on the current-time clock. The remaining-time field uses hours, minutes and seconds, so its meaning stays distinct from the time of day.
You can hide the exam title, start time, finish time or remaining time independently. A room label is optional. Keep titles short enough to read comfortably from a distance.
Overnight exams and saved settings
If finish is earlier than start, confirm that it belongs to the following day. Equal start and finish times are rejected rather than interpreted as a 24-hour exam. Choose an explicit exam date when preparing in advance.
The display URL stores the fixed schedule and appearance settings. Refreshing it preserves that exam, even after midnight. Treat a link containing a title or room as information you are sharing; avoid including candidate names or personal details.
