A familiar classroom, a different setup
A teaching room may already have a computer and projector, but an examination needs a quieter display than a lesson. Open the clock, enter the session details and choose which timing fields should remain visible. Close unrelated classroom material before using a mirrored screen.
Exam Room Clock requires no teacher or pupil account. A member of staff can prepare the browser on the room computer and launch a display without asking candidates to use their own devices.
Prepare a school device, not just a personal laptop
Managed browsers can restrict installation or local storage. Test the site on the exact school device and browser profile in advance. An installation option missing from the toolbar does not prevent normal browser use, but offline availability still needs its own check.
Wait for “Ready offline”, then rehearse an offline reload. Where school policy clears browser data after sign-out, prepare the clock again in the session that will actually be used for the exam.
Check between papers
Saved settings make a repeated setup faster, but they also make it possible to reopen yesterday’s date. At each change of session, check the date, title, start and finish. The form deliberately shows the restored date so staff can verify it before launching.
Use a short title that distinguishes the paper and a room label if that helps staff move between classrooms. Avoid candidate names or sensitive information in the title: display links include the details entered.
Use a consistent display where appropriate
Agree whether to use 12-hour or 24-hour time and whether remaining time should appear. Consistent settings can make it easier for staff to spot an incorrect finish time when moving between rooms. Apply current examination instructions when choosing the visible fields.
This version does not save school-wide presets or distribute a schedule to classrooms. Each room must be checked separately. If an exam has different timing arrangements for different candidates, use the school’s established procedure rather than treating the main countdown as a universal instruction.
A short rehearsal pays off
Check the projected time from the back row, confirm device time, review power settings and test offline operation. The setup guide provides the sequence. If your screen uses an extended desktop, the projector guide explains how to move only the exam display onto it.
